I am new to the world of blogging, recently inspired by reading the blog of one of my very dear friend. Today I took the big step, created a blog of my own. During the entire process, I kept wondering what I was supposed to write about. I referred to a few websites for startup, but gradually I came to understand that, whatever I write it has to be something of my own; My thoughts, my words. Hence I decided to blog about ME… Hey don’t worry, I will not bore you with my likes and dislikes list for sure.
I go to the Church every Sunday. Yesterday I went to church as usual, took a seat on the second last bench, sat praying. As it is human nature to be a bit conscious about the surroundings, I wasn’t exactly meditating :). Just as the mass was about to begin, a family of three filed in to the bench just ahead. A cute family, husband, wife and a child of about 1-1.5yrs old. I couldn’t help noticing the child, such huge inquisitive eyes, that innocent face. Little did I know that by the end of the mass I was going to be kicked by the very child.
Let me explain the course of events that led to such an act.
The mass had begun and as usual all of us had the Hymn Book, with blue bind, not forgetting to say the child’s (as I shall refer him) parents had one too. Most of you know that a mass has a lot of sitting and standing phases, so at one such sitting phase the child slid across the bench to the other end armed with the blue book, and as a kid would do started playing with it.. Eventually he made a discovery the aunt sitting ahead has a book too, now why not play with two?? So he plays with both the books and ends up leaving his own copy on the bench at front and slides back to his parents quite happily. This was the start of the commotion. His father started looking for the book sideways, underneath followed by his mother, and these actions surely got the crowd’s attention.. (only of the crowd which stood behind). The parents asked the child, but the child was busy looking around. It took a while for everyone who knew where the book was to control the giggles. Anyway, we had to because we were in the Church. Then started his next work, a tactic I would call Juggling with the book, that is to say the book goes over the table and under it, passed by these tiny hands, I couldn’t help wondering how kids enjoy such small things.. well this juggling session brought back a book for his parents, depriving the people who had been using it till then. Then begins their search. This time people ahead started the searching bout…
Quite an entertainment for us backbenchers..
By this time the child, bored with playing with the same book, started a cleaning session. Cleaning the bench with his handkerchief. While doing so, he looked up and saw me watching. I gestured him to stop doing that which must have encouraged him to do the same task with more vigor. Again he looked at me and I motioned, don’t do that.. Lo! He climbed on the bench asked his mother to look behind. The lady turned back, and I grinned sheepishly. I had had enough fun, so I focused on the prayer. That was when I felt something hitting my legs. I opened my eyes to see the lady next to me holding the child’s legs as he was sitting facing me and trying to hit me with his legs. I moved my legs back. The child slid downward, the aunt next to me warding him off. Good for me that his mom turned back and had to rush out holding him. All of us had fun, observing him, watching him. I got kicked, but the joy of watching such innocent actions was worth it.
The child brought back a lot of sweet memories, those days of innocence when any colorful thing became one’s object of desire. Watching a rainbow made us feel happy when we dreamt of flying high. Life is colorful…. enjoy every minute.
Color your dreams and fly high on the Satrangee Parachute.
